Personal
biography:
I was born in 1984, in the same house I still live. Right next to my
house is the primary school I visited. Now that's comfort. After 7 years,
instead of the usual 6 (you figure it out) of Atheneum I didn't know
what to do. So I had a sabbatical year, to think it all through. I finally
decided to study Sociology and by doing so, I threw another year right
out the window. At this moment I'm still heavily contemplating about
my future.
The first guitar I ever "played", was my brother's spanish
guitar. I believe I was about 14 years old. He tought me the first notes
of "Nothing Else Matters", which we all know is from Metallica.
Not long after that I bought my first guitar: a Legend Stratocaster.
Now, by Legend I don't mean "the legandary", I'm talking about
the brand. There's a lot of difference, believe me.
I didn't take any lessons, so the first few months were an absolute
horror. But before actually focusing on being able to play the thing,
a went ahead and bought another. And after that I bought my first acoustic
guitar, which was a Ibanez steelstring. My collection was (temporarily)
completed by an spanish guitar. I've always been fond of reversed logic,
whereas other begin with the nylons...
With time the collection of guitars grew, and eventually my playing
did too. I've taught myself, with the help of our local musicstore owner
and the internet, some technical details of the guitar.
I joined Richard and Pepijn, a couple of months after they started.
Pepijn was in my class, but I never really talked to him. One evening
I was at my friend's band, which would evolve from VIA to the newly
emerged Mood-0. Richard and Pepijn also visited, and I wound up playing
some Metallica riffs with Richard. From there on, the rest is obvious.
