04-05-2007: An update from our side! Its rather quiet around us for the next coming months as our bass player/singer Pepijn has left the country for study purposes. In the mean time we continue to work on our recordings and, of course, new gig dates are pouring in as we speak. The first shows for our October tour with British doomsters The Prophecy are confirmed and we added a gig with our Austrian friends of Jack Frost. In other gig-news, the Diamond Head shows confirmed, this time we will hit the stages in Hoorn, Hengelo and Goes. Time to see some old friends and meet new ones, see you on the road after our summer break!

10-04-2007: Hi all! It's been a while, and it's been awfully quiet in the IAAS camp. We're currently busy setting up for new recordings (!) and we're also all very busy with school, work etc etc... That's also the reason why we won't be able to do as many gigs this year as we're used to or want to. Unfortunately we had to decline the offer to play at this year's Flakkeese Dagen fest, which has become some kind of home festival for us. It would have been the 5th time in a row (we first played there in 2003, check the gigs section) and we all find it very sad that we can't make it a 5th time just now. Let's hope next year will bring us more luck! For the upcoming weekend with Officium Triste and Heavy Lord, a flyer can be found here.

15-02-2007: First of all we would like to thank My Shameful and Jack Frost for the two shows we've done at the beginning of February! This coming thursday (22nd of February) we return to Eindhoven to the Effenaar club to get on stage with bands like Rotting Christ, Malevolent and Skyclad. Yet, there are two changes in the line-up, first of all Bitterness had to cancel their show and have been replaced by the Dutch doom/death metal band Nymphea Aurora and another one was added, the Greek industrial-like band Inactive Messiah. We also would like to let you know that you have to buy a combiticket for this evening in order to get access to both stages of the Effenaar club. Be sure to check their website for more information. We'll see you at Eindhoven next week!

19-01-2007: Unfortunately, we were forced to cancel our show in Eindhoven last night. The storm that struck Holland in the afternoon caused a lot of trouble with trafic on the road and also public transport, not to mention the damage it did across the country and the rest of western Europe. We want to apologize to our friends from No Forgiveness and also to the people over at The Rambler, this was really out of our hands...

05-01-2007: A LOT of changes again, bad luck seem to be on our path once again, our shows in the UK (including an appearance on the Blizzard Of Doom festival in London!) and the additional French show are cancelled. But, when the Blizzard Of Doom festival is being held later this year we will be joining in again and hit two more stages on the road to London as well. Same goes for the mini tour with Hecate Enthroned, this fell through as well as Hecate Enthroned fell off the tour, their spot was filled by Austrian band Disastrous Murmur, but there was too little time to get things straight, so this will be postponed to later this year. Another show that fell through is the Goudvishal-show for the Officium Triste + Jack Frost mini tour, no replacement has been found yet, another change in this tour is that UK band Imindain fell off the tour and was replaced by the Finnish doom band My Shameful, welcome aboard! Our one-off show with the UK pagan metallers Skyclad has been combined with the Domination Tour that includes names such as Rotting Christ, Malevolent Creation and Incantation (see our gigs-section for more information!). Two other early January dates have been confirmed in Enschede (alongside desert rock band AOWDA) and in Arnhem (with Heavy Lord). Last but not least, there is a mini tour in the works with veteran heavy metallers of Diamondhead (UK) + Defender (NL), more information on that as soon as it is available. And, of course, happy new year to you all!

28-11-2006: Last weekend was a blast! We want to thank our Swedish friends Daniel, Henka, Crister and Jonas from Isole, Felix, the guys from Officium Triste (Sleepless!), Geert, Philip, Carla, the people from Merca, the staff in Zwolle, Wolvega and Tilburg and last but definitely not least all the people that came to see us this weekend. Thanks again!

03-11-2006: New dates for 2007! Also note that we changed the venue for our gig with Jack Frost (AT), Officium Triste (NL) and Imindain (UK) on February 4th 2007 to Dynamo, Eindhoven (NL). Unfortunately we had to cancel the December show with Reason To Kill and Superior, due to various reasons.

Jan 18, Thursday :: Eindhoven, The Rambler (NL) + No Forgiveness (IT)
Feb 22, Thursday :: Eindhoven, Effenaar (NL) + Skyclad (UK) +2
Apr 15, Sunday :: Nijmegen, Staddijk (NL) + Officium Triste (NL) +1

Enthroned (UK) + Sephiroth + 2

21-09-2006: The shows in January for the UK are as good as confirmed now, new details can be found in the gigs section. We're also working on a weekend in February here in The Netherlands with Hecate Enthroned (UK) and Sephiroth. As we move on we've got some shows planned with our Hungarian friends from Sear Bliss, more details on that soon! And last but certainly not least: the release party for Officium Triste's new CD on February the 3rd in Baroeg (Rotterdam, NL), along with Jack Frost (AT) and Imindain (UK). We are really looking forward to all of these shows, and we hope you do too!

13-09-2006: And yet again the gig schedule has changed: a few have been cancelled, others are in the making. Sadly the October tour was part of the cancelled ones... Many thanks go out to Felix who tried to give us this opportunity, we know how much blood, sweat and tears have gone into it. We also want to thank Before The Dawn, Insomnium and all the people from Sweden who were involved. Hope to see you guys some other time then! But for now....we're moving on, see you guys in Hoorn next Saturday!

16-11-2005: We just got one French date with Ataraxie confirmed: March 11 in The Emporium Galorium, Rouen (France! Don't worry, it's held in some sort of bunker... :) ). Two other bands are also on the bill that night, including Stronghold. Another thing we'd like to inform you about is the fact that Belgian gothic formation Willow's Whisper will join us (along with Officium Triste and Burning Saviours) on December the 9th at our gig in The Frontline, Gent (BE).

11-11-05: Tonight we'll get our first real airplay on RGL, a local radiostation here in The Netherlands. During a show called Radio2day between 19:00h and 20:00h (local time), 'White Meadows' will be the 'Rock2day song'. There will also be a small introduction to what we're all about. For the Dutch readers: RGL in de ether: 105.6 FM - RGL op de kabel: 105.9 FM (regio Goeree-Overflakkee / Schouwen-Duiveland / Hoeksche Waard).

Another thing to mention is that our new promo has already been reviewed over at Vampire-Magazine.com, they've also posted a concert review of the Dutch Doom Day IV fest. Thanks Felix!

Promo 2005 30-09-2005: Thursdaynight we finally finished the promo for our upcoming album! Simply called 'Promo 2005', this disc contains 4 tracks:

1. White Meadows
2. The Same Me
3. Helix
4. Overture

As seen the recordings for the complete album are taking more time then expected (and for other practical reasons), we decided to focus on the songs that needed the least amount of work and release them as a promo. You can actually see this as a preview for the new album, although the final versions might somewhat differ from the material presented on this promo. Upcoming Saturday at the Dutch Doomday fest in Rotterdam (NL) the new promo will be available! We'll also post one of these songs here on the website, where it will be available for download. And last but definitely not least: the workingtitle for the new album will be 'The Fall of Time'...

06-09-2005: We just got some data confirmed for our minitour with Burning Saviours and Officium Triste:

December 9, Friday: Gent, The Frontline [BE]
December 10, Saturday: Leeuwarden, De Gloppe [NL]
December 11, Sunday: Eindhoven, Dynamo [NL]

The gig with Epica that would take place on Saturday December 10 has been moved to next year, furter details will soon follow. Head over to the 'gigs' section for more info.

10-08-2005: Unfortunately this year's edition of the Autumn of Doom fest in Germany has been cancelled due to problems with finding the right venue.

08-08-2005: Just a small update on some new gigs: From 9-11 December we'll be doing a minitour with Burning Saviours (Sweden) and Officium Triste (NL) throughout the Benelux. On Saturday (December 10) the immensely popular gothic formation Epica will be added to the bill. We're still very busy working on the new recordings and we're very excited as some of the songs are actually nearing completion now. Check this page again for more updates soon!

27-06-2005: Long time no see! It's been more than a month ago since the last time you guys heard from us.....and a busy month it has been. We finally layed down the drumtracks for the upcoming cd and we already started recording bass and guitars. Before we started the actual recording, we recorded a demo track to see how the mix and sound would work out. We want to share this one with you guys, so you can get an idea of what the new record will sound like. This sample comes from a track called 'The Same Me' (original version is 8min+), click below to check it out:

The Same Me (demo sample) -- 128kbps / 3:25min

As mentioned before: this version will not be featured on the upcoming cd nor is this the final mix yet! Let us know what you think of it on the message board. We'll keep you updated on the recording proces.

16-05-2005: We just put the other 2 tracks from our 2004 demo 'Tragedy of the Commons' online, now the complete demo is available for download in the mp3 section.

Tracks available

Track 1 Nocturnal Whisperings
(80kbps)
Track 2 Abstracted
(80kbps)
Track 3 Silhouette
(80kbps)
Track 4 Vagrant Thoughts
(80kbps)

Niels update: Niels is currently recovering very rapidly from his broken collarbone and is starting to practise drumming with 2 arms again. Therefor we'll be heading into the studio later this month to finally start recording drumtracks for our upcoming cd, past attempts failed due to damaged recording equipment and Niels' injury.

11-05-2005: As you all will have noticed, the IAaS website adress has changed into www.inageandsadness.com! From now on this will be the spot to find us on the web. Also the e-mail adresses have changed into .com, the .tk adresses will be taken out of service soon.

29-04-2005: Another large update. The past 2 gigs with Mar de Grises were great! It was a nice experience and we had a really good time. Photos of that gig will soon appear in the live gallery, so check back later. Felix of Vampire-Magazine.com (who also functioned as our roadie those 2 days) reviewed both gigs and uploaded them:

MdG + IAaS + Incinerated @ Café Rocks, Enschede [review]
MdG + IAaS @ Little Devil, Tilburg [review]

Something different now. On the 24th of September the (in)famous Autumn of Doom fest will be held at Eiche in Obereuerheim (Germany) and we have just been added to the bill. Other bands that are featured at AoD'05 are Revelation, Stereochrist, Mourning Beloveth, Thee Plague Of Gentlemen, Spancer and Well Of Souls. As you can see we will be the only Dutch band playing there. If everything goes well (which is not the usual situation for us these days) this will be the first IAaS gig across the border.

19-04-2005: Felix over at Vampire-Magazine.com just posted a review of our performance at the Flakkeese Dagen 2005, also Bitter Hærvest's set is being discussed there.

17-04-2005: It seems that fate is still against us... Last Sunday we were supposed to head over to the Waterfront studio in Rotterdam to record the drumtracks for the upcoming record, the record that was already delayed because of a roof leakage that damaged Johan Kwakernaak's (Officium Triste) recording equipment that we used for recording. On Friday night prior to the drumtrack recording last Sunday, our drummer Niels broke his left collarbone as result of an unlucky fall over a loose brick in the sidewalk. This incident could not have happened on a worse moment than that, with the upcoming recordings and 3 gigs within a couple of weeks time in mind. We called off the recordings and were afraid of having to cancel the upcoming gigs too. But Niels (as metal to the core as he is :) ) didn't want to hear about that at all and started rehearsing with one arm instantly. We did rehearsal sessions last Thuesday and Wednesday and the results were above our expectations, the upcoming will still go on!

And so we performed at the 2005 edition of the Flakkeese Dagen fest yesterday, for the 3rd year in row. There were absolutely no problems playing the set live and Niels did very, very well. Our friends from Bitter Hærvest also did a great job performing there and we'll be looking out for playing with them in the near future. Some live video footage was recorded during our performance. Head over to FlakkeeseDagen.nl or FlakkeePop.nl for photos of the whole fest, we'll be posting some pics of us here in the upcoming week.

24-03-2005: Our friends from BirkhoffBlast.nl have posted a live review of our gig in Sliedrecht last Saturday together with Officium Triste and Whispering Gallery. Thanks to Rob!

22-03-2005: Check some new photos of our equipment in the members section.

04-03-2005: As you could have read here earlier, we will be playing at Little Devil (Tilburg, NL) on April the 21st together with Mar de Grises (great atmospheric doom from Chile). On the 20th of April Mar de Grises will be playing at Café Rocks (Enschede, NL) and we have just been confirmed to join them that night also. Incinerated (NL) will be opening for us that evening. Mar de Grises will be attending 6 European countries as part of their EuroTour 2005 and we will join them on the Dutch part.

11-02-2005: To prove that we're still very busy working on the upcoming record, we've posted some new photos of us recording at Johan's homestudio. Head over to the misc gallery and see for yourself.

05-02-2005: New gigs keep coming in: In the weekend of the 15th and 16th of April, the anual Flakkeese Dagen fest will be held in Middelharnis (NL). We will be playing on Saturdaynight between 20:00h and 20:45h on the main stage. Some 24 acts will be performing that weekend, featuring Zork, Cosmic Slop, Jos Mans, Sentinel, Koffiedik, Bitter Hærvest, White Island, Mood0 and others! Visit FlakkeeseDagen.nl or FlakkeePop.nl for further info and updates. This will be the 3rd time that we attend this fest.

04-02-2005: On Saturday the 1rst of October, the Dutch Doom Day IV will be held at Beroeg (R'dam, NL). We're proud to announce that we'll also be featured on this year's edition, alongside some of the top doom bands in the scene these days. Other bands that are confirmed: Mourning Beloveth [IRE] and Wreck of the Hesperus [IRE]! For further updates visit the official Baroeg website.

As you can see the new website has been launched, a major improvement to the old one! The esthetic design is not final yet, we're currently awaiting the new artwork. Until then enjoy the new layout...

03-02-2005: Added some new photos to the live gallery. All were taken during our gig at De Parel, January 22. Unfortunately that night was the last night of De Parel, they decided to close due to the huge amounts of pressure laid upon them by local authorities. Thanks for everything guys, we we'll have to miss our local chat and drink now...

17-01-2005: Head over to SoundClick.com where we have our own bandpage now. Al lot of band info can be viewed and also our music is available for download. SoundClick.com also provides us with a messageboard which we will use as our messageboard for the official website.

13-01-2005: New gig: Thursday, April 21 at Little Devil (Tilburg, NL). Together with Mar de Grises, a great atmospheric doom band from Chile.

09-01-2005: Happy new year to you all! We have another new gig planned for January 22, at De Parel (Middelharnis, NL). We will be headliner that evening, kicking off at 23:00h. Other bands that night will be our friends from Mood0 and 2 others, also different DJ's will be playing that day.

25-12-2004: In Age and Sadness wishes everyone a fine holiday season and a dark and cold (though cosy) Christmas. All the best in 2005 and here's a little present for you all.

23-12-2004: New pics available from our Betonrot 2004 gig in Hellevoetsluis, go to the gallery to see them. Click here to see more photos and videos of that evening.

13-12-2004: Head over to BirkhoffBlast.nl, they just posted a review of our gig last Saturday in Hellevoetsluis. Pics of that gig will be posted here very soon.

10-12-2004: In Age and Sadness are seriously saddened by the events that took place wednesday during a Damageplan gig in Columbus, Ohio (US). We want to share the grief and pain with the families of the persons who lost their lives and with the world wide metal community. We have just lost one of the greatest and most influential musicians in metal history. Darrel, R.I.P. buddy...

01-12-2004: MetalStorm.ee has just recently placed a review of our 2004 demo "Tragedy of the Commons" online. Go check it out by clicking here.

28-11-2004: Next month we will start with the recording process for a new cd. We will do so in Johan Kwakernaak's studio, known from his band Officium Triste for which he also recorded their latest album "Reason". There will be 5 songs on the new cd with a total running time of over 45 minutes. We haven't thought up a name yet. We're going to take it easy and try to do everything as good as possible. Check this site for further updates.

25-11-2004: New gig March the 6th, 2005. Together with Arminus, Overgrown and others we will play at TMT (Roosendaal, NL).

24-10-2004: RockEzine.nl has placed a review of our latest demo "Tragedy of the Commons" online. A few others that we have found on the web lately, have also been added to the media-section. As you can see the website has had a few esthetic tweaks too.

20-10-2004: Our gig in Elektra (Sliedrecht, NL) which would take place December 18, has moved to the 19th of March 2005. As stated here earlier, we will join Officium Triste and Whispering Gallery that night.

10-10-2004: We slightly upgraded our gear, for we thought it was time for some better equipment. Roland recently replaced his old Yamaha with a Korg Triton LE synth, Richard now uses a Jackson DXMG Dinky guitar and Pepijn just bought a Hartke HA4000 head with VX410 4x10" cabinet. We're all very pleased with our new acquisitions and hope to make optimal use of them.

23-08-2004: Our friends from Eria d'Or are giving a party this Saturday (Aug 28) and we're invited...to play there. The party (Groot Feest VI) will be held in Noordeloos [NL] and will be our very first open air! Terrain will be open at 19:30h and we will kick off at 20:30h. Other bands featured at this gig will be Eloquence, Stigma and of course Eria d'Or.

16-08-2004: With summer holidays coming to an end, we're getting off our lazy asses and start actually doing something useful again. That includes rehearsing the new material we came up with the past few months. We will join Officium Triste and Whispering Gallery later this year, when we will play at Elektra (Sliedrecht, NL) December the 18th. We're currently planning some more gigs with these guys.
Because of technical problems, our forum is temporarely offline. We hope to get these problems fixed in a matter of weeks.

13-07-2004: Finally added the photos of our gig at Baroeg (R'dam, NL).

05-07-2004: Next step in the website metamorfose: the gallery-section has changed for practical reasons.

25-06-2004: The website has changed a little: from the band-section (wich now contains a short bio) the demo reviews were moved to the media-section and the live reviews have moved to the gigs-section. Also the links-section has been modified, now there are less banners.
A lso featured at our gig in Ooltgensplaat tonight is Michel Labruyere (Mood0).

17-06-2004: Added 2 gig reviews of our last gig in Baroeg(R'dam). One at BirkhoffBlast.nl and one at LordsOfMetal.nl. You'll find them in the band-section.

31-06-2004: We had a great time during our last gig in Baroeg (R'dam)! We want to thank our local "support clan" who came to see us, we really appreciate it. BirkhoffBlast.nl already posted a review of this gig and go here for some photos (more will follow). We also added a new gigdate, june 25th we will play in Ooltgensplaat at a metal party.

17-05-2004: A new demo review is online at Metal-March.com. The new website design is currently being checked on any bugs or errors and will be online in the next few days. Untill then, enjoy this good old IAaS look...

10-05-2004: Together with Dark Desire and Batter, we will play at "The Frontline" (Gent, BE) on friday the 4th of June. We're currently working on some new material and we hope that we can bring these songs live during our upcoming gig at "Baroeg" (R'dam, NL). A new website design is also being made, so check back soon for the new layout.

20-04-2004: We have have done 2 gigs last 2 weeks, the one in Arnhem and the one at FD'04. Both went well and we've got some new photos added in the "gallery" section. For more FD'04 photos go to FlakkeePop.nl and FlakkeeseDagen.nl. For a review of our gig in Arnhem go to ShadowsOfDisgust.com. We also added some links to metalzines who reviewed our demo in the "band" section.

29-03-2004: Unfortunately we have some bad news: because of financial reasons Desire[PT] and The Provenance[SWE] decided to cancel their European tour. Because of this, our gig in "The Frontline" is cancelled too.

14-03-2004: Check out the "Band" section for photo's of the bandmembers. There you can also find a link to a new interview recently done by Richard for BirkhoffBlast. It's a Dutch interview so we're sorry for the foreign people around. And yes, another gig added: "Willemeen" in Arnhem [NL] on Saturday April 10th. This gig will feature a couple of other bands; In Somnis[BE] and Lahar[NL]. This is a doommetal only night, so come all doom(st)ers!

07-03-2004: And yet another, on the same day as our appearance on the Flakkeese Dagen 2004. We will play at "The Frontline", a venue in Gent [BE]. We will play with Desire[PT] and The Provenance[SWE]. This is also our first gig across the border.

03-03-2004: Another gig added: Flakkeese Dagen Festival 2004. This is a 2-day festival that will be held on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of April. We will be playing on Saturday afternoon (just like last year) at about 15:15h. For more info about the fest, go to the Flakkeese Dagen official website.

01-03-2004: With the new demo just released, In Age and Sadness has a busy agenda. The try-out in Krimpen a/d IJssel [NL] went very well, the new setlist gives no problems playing it live. As you can all have seen, the website design has changed a little into the cover design of the new demo. We have also 2 (!) new sections, a discography and a forum! You can now speak out on anything about In Age and Sadness.

And even more good news: on the 21rst of May we will play at "Baroeg", Rotterdam [NL]! 'Vegas for Millions' will also play at this gig. We are rather excited for Baroeg is a well known venue in The Netherlands.

25-02-2004: Finally, it's here! The new In Age and Sadness demo is released, and it's got a name: TRAGEDY OF THE COMMONS. The demo will be distributed with a jewel case, containing a front and back cover.

Tragedy of the Commons features 4 songs:

1. Nocturnal Whisperings

2. Abstracted

3. Silhouette

4. Vagrant Thoughts

All the songs on the demo were created in the 2nd half of 2003 and the beginning of 2004. The recordings and mixing were done in February 2004. You can order the demo here. The price of the demo will be €4,- and it will only be available within Europe. For you people outside Europe, please contact us by e-mail. Two songs that come from the demo are available for download in the "media" section.

18-02-2004: Added a last minute gig to the "Gigs" section. We will be playing at the "Big Bear" in Krimpen a/d IJssel [NL], the second time we do a performance there. It will be a try-out for the new setlist.

11-02-2004: With the instrumental recordings finished and the mixing almost done the new demo (!) is getting shape very rapidly. Next week Pepijn and Richard will take care of the vocal part. We're also currently debating on what cover will be used. We want to thank our friend and "producer" Arwin Troost (from Buiten Adem) for helping us in the recording proces. We expect to have the demo released in a couple of weeks.

03-01-2004: Happy new year to you all! Have a very nice 2004, and with a new year we replaced the old versions of "Abstracted" and "Vagrant Thoughts" with newer versions. There is a slight improvement in sound quality, but it still isn't CD quality. Go to the media section to download them.

26-12-2003: As we recently told you, we have been working on some new material. We have a new song up and downloadable, it's called "Nocturnal Whisperings" and you can get it here. As usual rehearsal recording quality and with Niels on drums! We're working on new songs again, and maybe we have a nice surprise for you at the dawn of 2004...

19-11-2003: Last week we had our first rehearsals with our drummer Niels since months! He is currently recovering from the cures and he's doing pretty well. We practiced some old songs, and already played a new one with him! This song was written by Pepijn, Roland and Richard during Niels' abcense, but he did very well. In January 2004 the medical procedures will continue, we hope we don't have to miss Niels for a long time again...

01-10-2003: Recently we have decided to continue without bass player Samuel, because of personal and musical conflicts. Pepijn, who used to only do vocals, will now take responsibility for playing bass also. We are currently busy writing new material, in await of Niels' recovery.

02-08-2003: Click here to view the very first interview Pepijn ever did about the band! Go to the 'Interviews' section and select the 'In Age and Sadness' thumb. There is also a link which will bring you to our first appearance on ZwareMetalen(.com). Click here.

10-07-2003: Unfortunately, our drummer Niels won't be able to play for a while because of health problems. The other band members will do their best to stay sharp until Niels is able to return. Of course we wish Niels, his family and friends best of luck in this terrible struggle.
